“David’s article mentioned the freedom we enjoyed, and the bike excursions - especially on three-quarter days, and the fact that he wasn’t aware of any serious mishap. Years later, by chance, I got to know Piff Williams and I asked him, as a housemaster, if he had had any worries about sending his brood out for the day. His reply was in line with David - ‘Nothing happened. That’s the answer’!
